Guest Lecture at Yangzhou University

Today (Nov 28, 2014) at 7pm, I'll be giving a guest lecture at the Department of Arts at Yangzhou Univeristy (Ynagzhou, Jiangsu).

The lecture is entitled "The Artist as a Fool: Challenging Sovereign Power through the Arts."

In the lecture, I connect a rather traditional theme in aesthetics (that is, the so-called "liminality" of the artist) with recent discussions of sovereignty and political resistance, with a focus on Agamben's work. I suggest that the artist's liminality allows us to radically challenge sovereing power.
